No pandemic, rain or wind could stop loyal barbecue fans from making it to Brisket King\u00ae NYC 2021. Our generous hosts Pig Beach<\/a>\u00a0set the scene for the meaty evening event. For the second year in a row, Staten Island’s Juicy Lucy BBQ<\/a> took home the top title. Owner Richie Holmes<\/a>‘s brisket also won the fan favorite award at the event.<\/p>\n

Second place went to James Cruse<\/a> who came all the way from Central City Barbecue<\/a> in New Orleans and served excellent brisket with Cajun dirty rice. Long time competitor Robert Austin Cho<\/a> of Kimchi Smoke<\/a> served up a brisket and donut sandwiched dubbed the “Chonut” that earned him the award for Most Creative Combo.<\/p>\n

Food Karma event mainstay Chef Jesse Jones<\/a> won the Unsung Hero award for his brisket served with his mother’s biscuits. Rounding out the winners, Leland Avellino<\/a> of Avellino Family Barbecue<\/a> took home a year’s worth of Cabot Cheese for his Texas-style brisket.<\/p>\n

Other dishes included brisket tacos with birria consome from Carlito’s Tacos<\/a>, brisket with pastrami and brisket sausage from Ed Randolph<\/a> of Handsome Devil<\/a>, confit brisket from Pulkie’s<\/a> and a classic version served with white bread from Hill Country BBQ<\/a>.<\/p>\n
